Embroidery Information
Blue Moose Designs provides professional-grade embroidery services using state-of-the-art multi-head machines, precision digitizing, and premium thread systems. Each design is converted into a stitch-ready format to ensure clean lines, accurate scaling, and long-lasting durability across all applications. Whether for uniforms, hats, flame-resistant (FR) apparel, or specialty items, our embroidery processes deliver exceptional results built to withstand daily use and laundering.
Embroidery Techniques Offered
- Flat Embroidery: Traditional high-density stitching ideal for uniforms, polos, jackets, and patches. Provides crisp detail with a smooth surface finish.
- 3D Puff Embroidery: Raised embroidery achieved by layering foam beneath the top stitches for a bold, dimensional appearance. Commonly used on hats, hoodies, and outerwear.
- FR (Flame-Resistant) Embroidery: Designed for flame-resistant garments using Nomex® or Fire-Retardant thread systems that maintain compliance with NFPA 2112 and ASTM standards. Backing, bobbins, and thread are carefully matched to preserve the garment’s protective integrity.
- Metallic Thread Embroidery: Uses metallic fiber-blend threads to produce decorative shimmer and high-contrast highlights. Best suited for accent work and specialty branding.
- Appliqué & Patch Embroidery: Combines embroidered borders with laser-cut or hand-cut fabric appliqués for unique multi-texture designs.
- Specialty Embroidery: Includes structured caps, heavy canvas, leather, softshells, and other non-traditional substrates using optimized tension and needle setups.
Digitizing & Artwork Preparation
- All embroidery artwork must be digitized into stitch format (.DST, .TBF, .EXP, or compatible format) before production.
- Digitizing fees may apply for new designs or artwork that requires manual cleanup or resizing.
- Artwork should be provided in vector format (AI, EPS, or PDF) or a high-resolution raster image (300 DPI minimum).
- Small text, gradients, and fine details may not translate well to embroidery and may be adjusted during digitizing for best visual clarity.
- Blue Moose Designs will provide a digital proof or stitch preview prior to production upon request.
Thread Colors & Materials
- Blue Moose Designs uses high-quality polyester and rayon embroidery threads for color vibrancy and durability.
- FR embroidery uses certified fire-retardant thread (Nomex® or equivalent) to maintain compliance with safety regulations.
- Metallic threads and specialty colors may have a slight sheen variation or reflectivity under lighting conditions — this is normal for their composition.
- Color matching is achieved using standardized color charts (Madeira, Isacord, or Robison-Anton). Exact matches to Pantone or screen colors are not guaranteed due to fiber reflection and dye variation.
Placement & Sizing Tolerances
- Embroidery placement may vary slightly (±1/8") due to garment stretch, seam variation, or substrate thickness.
- Designs are scaled to maintain stitch integrity. Minor adjustments may be made for optimal thread density and coverage.
- Items such as structured caps or curved surfaces may exhibit minor stitch angle changes, which are considered standard within industry tolerances.
Garment & Material Compatibility
- Embroidery is suitable for most woven and knit fabrics, canvas, twill, fleece, and outerwear.
- FR embroidery is available only on certified FR garments to maintain flame-resistance performance.
- Some lightweight or stretch materials may require additional stabilizers or backing for optimal results.
- Blue Moose Designs reserves the right to decline embroidery on materials that may be damaged by needle penetration or hoop tension.
Care Instructions
- Turn garments inside out before washing.
- Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not bleach.
- Tumble dry on low or air dry. Avoid high heat, especially for FR embroidery.
- Do not iron directly over embroidery. Use a cloth barrier if pressing is necessary.
Quality Assurance & Limitations
Each embroidered product undergoes a detailed inspection for thread tension, alignment, and finish quality. Slight variations in stitch density or color tone may occur due to thread type, fabric weave, and dye batch. These are standard within commercial embroidery practices and do not constitute a defect.
Blue Moose Designs will correct or replace any verified production error in accordance with our Guarantee and Returns Policy. Blue Moose Designs is not responsible for artwork or design errors submitted by the customer, or for garments supplied by third parties.
